2019 Scholarship Winners
Advancing the educational opportunities of our local students to become professionals, leaders, and valued citizens of our communities clearly supports the purpose of the Chamber by O’Hare. This year we were able to offer four $1,500 scholarships due to the many Chamber events that help fund these important initiatives. We are honored to acknowledge these very talented and accomplished local students as they begin their college journey.
Riley Morioka will attend Triton College this fall pursuing Automotive Technology. In addition to academic achievement, Riley received the Fern Award for Industrial Technology, the Outstanding CTE Award, and was a member of the Autos Club.
Patrick Sarad will head to the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign to study math and engineering. In addition to academic achievement, Patrick received the Woodsman of the Year Award, was MVP of cross country and track and field, was awarded AP Scholar with Distinction, and was a member of the National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society, and Investment Club.
Carmelo Lattuca attended Notre Dame Prep High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society, an Illinois State Scholar, and played hockey and lacrosse at Notre Dame. This fall he will be majoring in Biochemistry/Pre-Med.
This year the Chamber added a new scholarship funded by Digital Realty, a new business partner in our community. Christopher Eduard Lingat is the recipient of this new opportunity. He plans to study Biochemistry and Radiologic Technology in the fall. Christopher is a recipient of the FERN Award, AP Scholar with Distinction, Illinois State Scholar, High Honor Roll, Exceptional Eagle, and a member of National Honor Society.
